Dates

Filing deadlines

General filing deadlines. Where a deadline falls on a weekend or public holiday, the Canada Revenue Agency normally treats the next business day as on time. Your own circumstances may differ — if a date matters to you, confirm it with the office.

Client checklist

Review this list before sending your personal tax material, note anything that has changed, and include the relevant documents. This page is designed to print — use your browser's print command.


Contact information

  • Has your address changed? If so, provide the new address.

Family information

  • Has your marital status changed?
  • Any changes to your dependants? Provide SIN, name and date of birth.

Required for electronic filing

  • Are you a Canadian citizen?
  • Do you agree to the Canada Revenue Agency providing your name, address and date of birth to Elections Canada for the National Register of Electors?
  • Are you a citizen of a country other than Canada? If so, indicate which.

If you sold your principal residence

  • Full address of the home sold
  • Name or names on the ownership
  • Year purchased
  • Sale price

Supporting documents

  • Notice or notices of (re)assessment
  • All T slips received

Other and new income sources

  • First year for CPP or OAS?
  • T4E for employment insurance payments
  • Alimony or maintenance received
  • Rental property — revenue and expenses
  • Business or self-employed income and expenses

Other documents

  • RRSP contributions and withdrawals, up to March 1
  • Union or professional dues
  • Donations
  • Medical expenses, including plan premiums
  • Childcare
  • Student loan interest
  • T2202 tuition fees
  • Moving expenses, for a move greater than 40 km for employment
  • First-time home ownership
  • Transit pass (Ontario only, ages 65 or older)
  • T2200 completed and signed by your employer for employment expenses, if applicable
  • T2200S completed and signed by your employer for work from home, if applicable
  • Non-registered investment expenses (interest, management fees)
  • Alimony or maintenance paid

Sending documents

Secure portal

The firm runs a secure portal for uploading documents, and can accept digital signatures for approvals.

Please do not email tax documents, financial statements or anything containing a SIN. Ordinary email is not a secure channel. Use the portal, or bring material to the office.
